Wags & Whiskers/Kids ’N Kritters: Dogs vs. Cats — May 3. Bring in a picture (between now and 5/5) of your dog or cat and put it up in the window. Write in 50 words or less why your pet is great. CLASSES

Mother’s Day Art Workshops — May 3. Create a beautiful homemade present for your mom at the Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA. Participate in one of the following three workshops to craft a unique gift. The workshops available are: Youth Crafts, for children ages 7 to 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Daddy and Me for children ages 3-6 accompanied by a parent from 1 to 2 p.m., and Spring Blossom Acrylic Painting for all individuals above the age of 16 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. For additional information on the workshops and fees contact Ana Marie Schaefer at (818) 790-0123 ext. 231.

Jump Rope Classes — May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Hosted by the Foothill Force Jump Rope Team, for all girls and boys in second through 12th grade, & adults of any age. Space is limited. $50 for five class session. FIS Gym, 4490 Cornishon Ave., LCF.

The La Crescenta Woman’s Club — May 13, 10:30 a.m., lunch, 12 meeting will be held at 4004 La Crescenta Ave, entertainment begins at 1 p.m. Bronwyn Schramm, piano vocalist, will sing movie tunes from the 40s, 50s, and 60’s. Glendale Quilt Guild — May 13, at 6:30 p.m. Speaker: Jane Tenorio-Cascarelli will give a slide and trunk show with a humorous look at the fabric beasts in all quilters. From seasonal prints to classic calicos. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at the Glendale Central Library, 222 E. Harvard, Glendale, at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are free to members. Fee for non-members is $5.
