Officers were not specifically targeting individuals but had put resources up in this area to do “positive proactive enforcement,” Anderson said.
The result was several arrests, including Jason Lamb, 19; Jeffrey Morquecho,19; Tae Yeon Kim, 19; Chang Chaunghyuk, 19; and Alvin Chin, 19. They were arrested on a variety of charges from suspicion of possession of narcotics for sale to burglary. All were from the CV area, and not all were members of 211Crew. There were juveniles also arrested.
In one case a suspect was found to have over 60 pills of Ecstasy, a popular Rave party drug, in his possession.
On Thursday, Glendale Police Chief Randy Adams will present the city council with recommendations on what can be cut in his department. SED and Vice Detail are two programs that are rumored to be on the list.
Council member John Drayman said he had heard that rumor as well, but has not seen any official list of proposed deductions.
“The city manager has asked all of the departments to come up with recommendations for a 5% cut in their departments,” Drayman said.
“Each department head has his, or her, staff work up a purposed set of cuts. What is suggested is what will come to the council on Thursday’s [budget] meeting. I personally will not vote to cut our Vice or SED. I was disappointed last time that there were no un-sworn positions on the list.”
There are two Glendale city budget meetings: Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. To e-mail city council members or for information about the city council, visit www.ci.glendale.ca.us.
