GLENDALE — Detectives investigating a Sunday robbery at a Glendale Pizza Hut in which an employee was shot in the shoulder released a surveillance video of a gunman Monday.

The video shows the gunman entering the pizza joint at 11:10 a.m. on the 1200 block of South Central Avenue and jumping over the counter.

He later emerges holding onto a bag and kicks open the restaurant’s front door.

The video doesn’t show the confrontation between the gunman and the employee, an 18-year-old Glendale woman who was listed in stable condition Monday.

After the gunman jumped over the counter, he approached the woman, who was the only employee working, and demanded cash from a safe, Glendale Police Det. Petros Kmbikyan said.

She gave him several hundreds of dollars and her purse while activating a silent alarm, police said.

The gunman took the money and her purse, jumped over the counter, turned around and shot her once in the shoulder, Kmbikyan said.

He was described as being black, with a medium to light complexion and in his 20s to 30s. Police said he’s about 5 foot, 8 inches tall with short black hair.

He wore a navy blue cap, sunglasses, a brown suit with a white shirt, black gloves and carried a dark-colored shoulder bag.

Anyone with details about the robbery should call the Glendale Police Department at (818) 548-4911, or robbery and homicide detectives at (818) 548-3987.
