Realtor Carolyn Stradling hadn’t heard of the move until recently, and said the change of venue was a bad choice.

“The Rose Bowl isn’t somewhere I’d want to go for dinner and a concert. It lacks the ambience, and there’s not the shade we have here from the hot sun,” she said.

Former Pasadena Symphony and Pops President John Streb, of Burbank said he isn’t too concerned about the event losing patrons by changing the venue.

“It’s a mixed bag. The Pops will be able to draw a larger audience at the Rose Bowl. This venue has a capacity for a total of 2,000 people. So, instead of having three days of events, you could have just the one. I think the main thing for people will be just breaking the habit,” Streb said, adding, “Our success here has been the picnic tables. At the Rose Bowl, they will have the same, only more of them.”

Zdunek said he hopes current attendees will give the new location a try next year.

“That’s all I ask. Try it once and see if you can enjoy it as much at the Rose Bowl,” he said.
