BASEBALL

The La Crescenta Sports Assn. 12-and under team captured the North Valley Championship on Wednesday. Top-seeded La Crescenta won its four games, capped with a 7-3 win against North Valley in the title contest.

The team consisted of Kyle Currie, Weston Walker, Jeremiah Martin, Jimmy Smiley, Brett Klein, Cole Rademacher, Thulani Kachingwe, Mike Misetich, Chase Walker, Cameron Briggs, Brian Gadsby, Connor Van Ginkel and Riley Miller.

BASKETBALL

The Glendale Panthers 13-and-under team finished second in the Summer Showtime Tournament in La Verne over the weekend. Glendale managed two come-from-behind wins, starting with a 32-19 victory against Yucaipa followed by a 38-32 win against Riverside. It then suffered a 53-41 loss to Norco in the title contest.

Mike Armstead and Matt Reyes led the Panthers with nine points each against Yucaipa. Yves Ramirez scored seven points for the Panthers, who got four points, six steals and four rebounds from Richard Elmoyan. Andre Hovesepian had two points and Arno Arutunyan had one.

Armstead led the Panthers with 16 points and five rebounds to help topple Riverside. Elmoyan collected eight points, seven rebounds and four steals, while Reyes had four points, six rebounds and five steals. Erik Ebrahimi had four points for Glendale, which got three from Arno Arutunyan.

Glendale, coached by Mike Hailey, got a tournament-best 22 points and five rebounds from Elmoyan in a loss to Norco. Armstead registered eight points and four rebounds. Ramirez scored four points for Glendale, which got three apiece from Arutunyan and Hovesepian.

The Crescenta Valley Falcons Elite-11 year-old team, coached by Paul Schilling, won the Ventura Swoosh Basketball tournament. The tournament took place June 13-14 with the Falcons going unbeaten.

The team consisted of Harrison Pyros, Chris Reik, Tanner Schilling, Justin Rountree, Bostin Lakin and Cameron Wetherby.
