As much as anything else, simply taking part in passing tournaments, especially with the likes of Hart, Valencia, Alemany, Westlake and Mira Costa, is a step up for the Nitros, who in years past rarely took part, if at all, in summer passing leagues.

“We’re coming out here with all these good teams and doing what good teams do,” said Eberhart, who added his team still has plenty to learn, complimenting the likes of Washington and Linden Anderson among others. “Our quarterback goes up and down. He’s still learning what I want him to do.

“Obviously, Dillon Fuller’s unbelievable.”

As for coaching against a Crescenta Valley team, one in which he and longtime CV assistant Bill Irace know many of the players still, that he had been a part of for so long, it still is just the summer, one that might see the teams come across each other again. But he knows that the teams’ Oct. 9 meeting will certainly be intriguing.

“That night is gonna be a fun night,” Eberhart said.

While Glendale went 0-2 on its final day, Crescenta Valley went 2-2, losing to Centennial with Zack Wilkerson filling in for Cota, who had a fatigued arm.

Wilkerson tossed three scores to McFadden, two to Pessy and one to Heinemann.

It marked the end of a long and tiring stretch for the Falcons, who played five passing league games at Saugus High’s passing tournament on Friday and Saturday before playing four on Monday at COC and another four on Wednesday.

Said Pessy: “We’re just dead [now].”
