Getting around by bus should be easier
Public transportation is a very essential aspect in our life. A lot of people cannot afford to buy a car, so they use buses for transportation. Unfortunately, our transportation system is in poor condition.
I was having a conversation with my cousin a couple of days ago about the transportation system, and I was shocked. She is a student at Glendale Community College, and she takes the bus every single day. The bus schedule is not convenient enough because there is a 30-minute wait between each bus, and if you miss one, you have to wait a long time until the next one.
For instance, my cousin had a test July 13, and since she missed the bus, she waited 30 minutes under the sun and finally got to college. Her teacher did not let her take the exam, even though my cousin explained to her what had actually happened. Her professor told her that she is really sorry about the incident, but there are no make-up tests.
As a result, my cousin with a 3.8 grade-point average missed a test, which will certainly affect her grade because of our poor transportation system.
I strongly believe that this is a serious issue in our community and something has to be done to resolve this problem as soon as possible. The bus schedule has to become more flexible and the wait time between the buses definitely needs to be reduced.

Hear, hear: Enough with city’s critics
Kudos to Michael Teahan for speaking the truth in his letter in the Glendale News-Press, insisting that the gadflies buzz off (“Could our gadflies please buzz off?” July 11).
He has captured what has become an irritation to the City Council and readers of the newspaper during these troubled economic times.
