Free classes offered for parents ,children

Free parenting classes are offered this fall by the Glendale Community College Parent Education program.

Parents attend the free classes with their preschool-age children to participate in activities designed to stimulate the development of young children.

Parents are instructed in skills and strategies for positive and effective child-raising.

Classes are at the Glendale Community College Life Skills Building, in local elementary schools and in La Cañada Flintridge.

Volunteers needed to track walkers

The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition and the city of Glendale are seeking volunteers to count walkers and bicyclists in Glendale as part of the PLACE Grant: Safe & Healthy Streets project.

Volunteers are needed from 7 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday.

Volunteers are asked to attend an instructional meeting from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Senior enrichment class offered

The Glendale Community College ENCORE program, an institute for learning in retirement, has discussion groups. Classes and workshops meet Saturdays, beginning Sept. 5 at the Life Skills Building on campus, 1500 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale. Membership is $50 per year. Call (818) 243-5196.

Glendale Yoga will offer a free introduction from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at 746 N. Glendale Ave. Participants will be shown basic postures, breathing and meditation techniques. Reservation deadline is Sept. 5. Call (818) 956-1621.

Professor offering music classes
