College offers free seminars

The Glendale Community College Lifelong Learning Seminars program for seniors offers free classes during the fall semester.

The Lifelong Learning Seminars are at the college’s main campus off Mountain Street near the Glendale (2) Freeway; Pacific Park at 501 S. Pacific Ave., and Sparr Heights Community Center at 1613 Glencoe.

Courses may be entered at any time during the semester.

Seminars at the Life Skill Building include Where’s My Memory?, Joy of Living, Dressmaking and Art History. At Pacific Park, the classes are Quality of Life, Health through Aerobics, Contemporary World Affairs and Health and Exercise. Beginning Sketching, Self Discovery via Writing, Quilt-making, Watercolor and Ancient Civilization meet at Sparr Heights.

Volunteers needed to track bikers, walkers

The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition and the city of Glendale are seeking volunteers to count walkers and bicyclists in Glendale as part of the PLACE Grant: Safe & Healthy Streets project.

Volunteers are needed from 7 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday. Volunteers are also asked to attend an instructional meeting 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday. E-mail colin@la-bike.org or call (818) 334-9731.
