“The SBA’s disaster assistance loans are one of the most effective ways to help get wildfire victims back on their feet,” Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff said in a statement.

Schiff and Democratic Rep. Brad Sherman were part of a group of congressmen that sent a letter to the agency asking that the loans be extended to those affected by the fire.

“I saw firsthand the catastrophic damage caused by the Station fire and there is no doubt that the SBA’s disaster assistance is necessary and would go a long way in helping Southern California recover,” Schiff said.

The administration has set up loan outreach centers to offer consultation to those seeking the financial assistance.

One center will be open at the Acton Community Center, 3748 Nickels Ave. in Acton, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Oct. 5. Another will be available at Veterans Memorial Park, 13000 Sayre St. in Sylmar, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
