A former Crescenta Valley town councilman who last month resigned as general manager of a major Los Angeles department will not face charges for allegedly raping a woman at his condominium, authorities said.
Los Angeles County prosecutors declined to file charges against Andrew Adelman, the former general manager of the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, sources told the Los Angeles Times. Adelman served as president of the Town Council in 2003. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa placed Adelman on leave in August amid revelations that the Los Angeles Police Department was investigating claims that he raped a woman July 10.
He has not been charged with a crime or arrested.
In the search warrant, Los Angeles Police Department investigators said the woman said she attended a July 10 pub crawl with Adelman, passed out, and awoke the next morning to discover a man sexually assaulting her. She allegedly later identified the man as Adelman.
