The contract was more than $100,000 less that other alternatives for public holiday decorations.

?

WELL PROJECTS

The City Council approved a $1.2-million contract with J.A. Salazar Construction & Supply Corporation for the Foothill Well Rehabilitation and Facilities Project, which will renovate an old water well for re-use.

The council also authorized the bidding process for the design and drilling of a new well in the Verdugo Basin.

WHAT IT MEANS

The projects will support Glendale Water & Power efforts to increase local groundwater production to decrease dependence on imported water from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

?

GRANT APPLICATION

The City Council authorized a grant application to the Los Angeles Regional Park and Open Space District for county funding to create a new hiking trail in the city.

The proposed “Catalina Verdugo Trail” would be near the Glendale Sports Complex and provide a trail of modest difficulty with easy access to residents.

WHAT IT MEANS

In the wake of the extended closure of Deukmejian Wilderness Park caused by the Station fire, city officials say the grant funding for a new trail is even more important.
