Glendale City Council Meeting Preview: Street lights

The City Council on Tuesday will consider opening the bidding process for the painting of nearly 800 street lights in the next three years.

The cost of the project is estimated at close to $200,000 per year.

The council will likely approve going to bid as the funds have already been allocated in the city’s budget.

Glendale Water & Power award

The City Council will receive a report on Glendale Water & Power’s receipt of the Assn. of Metropolitan Water Districts’ Gold Award for exceptional utility performance. The utility was honored for its proactive approach to water quality, measuring employee and plant performance and financial integrity.

The council will note and file the report.

Backflow prevention

The City Council will consider a number of motions related to Glendale Water & Power’s Backflow Assembly Testing and Notification Program. Backflow prevention devices are used to protect water from pollutants and ensure high water quality.

The motions include raising the monthly fee per device, as well as strengthening the utility’s ability to test the devices in a timely manner as required by the state’s health code.
