Silverman ran the last race of her Rebels career and clearly left it all on the Mt. SAC course as she was clearly woozy and wobbly after the race, struggling to stay standing after a ninth-place run of 19:35.

“She’s had a better season this year than she’s ever had,” Roffina said. “She’s got nothing to be sad about.”

Sacred Heart tallied 234 points in a race won by Mission League-rival Harvard-Westlake with 88 points.

Amanda Aguilar led the way for the Tologs, finishing 35th in 19:46, while Andrea Kropp, despite a leg injury, was 45th in 20:12. Jacquie Scherrer (57th, 20:27), Mary Senstad (60th, 20:30) and Paige Conti (62nd, 20:35) rounded out the team’s scoring five. Vargas was 64th in 20:44.

“We packed well,” Nishiyama said. “If Stephanie has a normal race for her, we’re in, but unfortunately, she had an asthma attack.”

Crescenta Valley Coach Mark Evans’ girls’ squad had its shots at a fifth-straight state berth ended in the previous week’s CIF prelims. However, he was there to support his sons, Chris and Rob, whose Golden Valley boys’ squad advanced to state in Division III for the second straight year with a program-best third-place mark.

Other area results saw Burroughs’ Anthony Monroy finish 21st in the Division I boys’ race in 15:26, while La Cañada’s boys’ team took ninth in Division IV.
