Foothills prepare for more evacuations

February 26, 2010|By Jason Wells

[DEVELOPING] With a potentially powerful storm on the horizon, authorities this morning said they were preparing to issue another round of evacuation orders for residents in La Crescenta and La Canada Flintridge.

The notices will likely be issued around noon today, with door-to-door visits by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies starting around 6 p.m., officials said.

Steady rain isn’t expected to hit the region until after 10 p.m., with the chance for strong storm cells and thunderstorms increasing overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

The agency has issued a flash flood watch for the foothill region.

Heavy rain is also in the forecast for Saturday before giving way to mostly sunny skies on Sunday.
