GIRLS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Crescenta Valley 70, Canyon 57: The Falcons won their season opener on Thursday at home thanks to big days by Jessica Beerman and Cali King.

Beerman took first in the 100 meters in 12.5 seconds, also won the 200 in 25.9 and was part of a victorious 1,600 relay (4:18.2) along with King, Tiernan Hebron and Carli Opland. King won the 800 (2:29.6) and was part of a clean sweep for the Falcons in the 1,600, winning in 5:36.

Brooke Moultrie won the 3,200 in 12:23.8. Hebron won the 400 (1:01.4), Kristina Gustovich won the high jump (4 feet 8 inches) and Melanie Samvalian took the shot put (34-4 1/2 ).

BOYS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Canyon 98, Crescenta Valley 29: Mike Duncan was the lone winner for the Falcons in their season opener on Thursday at home. He won the 3,200 in 10:08.4.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

St. Francis 3, La Cañada 1: Matt Grace recorded 34 assists and three aces and Michael Bacall led the Golden Knights with 17 kills in a 25-13, 25-16, 23-25, 25-21 nonleague home win on Thursday afternoon.

Wesley Coffey and Brandon Kim contributed 10 and nine kills, respectively, while Thomas Banks had 17 digs for St. Francis (3-0).
