The Rebels saw Park and Ben Slyngstad reach base in the bottom of the sixth with no outs. They were replaced, respectively, by pinch runners Chris Lee and Conor Dubin. Will Peterman then singled to left with one out to load the bases before Rodli got jammed on a 1-2 pitch from Steven Kohr before rolling a single into short right field to score Lee and Dubin.

“I thought he would throw me a curve and I would have to fight it off,” Rodli said. “He jammed me on the hands and I thought it might be a ground out.

“It’s a great way to start off, though it can’t get much uglier than that. We didn’t hang our heads to begin with, and then we started gaining momentum.”

Park escaped a two-on, two-out jam in the seventh by striking out Kirk Lawson on a 2-2 pitch to pick up the save. Peterman earned the win by pitching a scoreless sixth. Clayton Weirick also pitched well in relief prior to Peterman.

The Rebels got two hits apiece from McDonald and Park. McDonald and McCann also scored two runs each.

The Cardinals got two hits each from Aaron Gomez and Justin Macias.

Weather permitting, Flintridge Prep will take on Morningside in a tournament road game at 11 a.m. today.
