Meeting topic is sports injuries

Crescenta Valley PTSA will have its upcoming meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the cafeteria. After a short business meeting, a presentation on sports injuries and prevention will be given by Dr. Loren Geller and Cynthia Cancelosi, certified strength and conditioning therapist. This program will be helpful to parents of students who play sports at all ages.

Monte Vista Elementary

Founder’s Day Master of Ceremonies Roger Sondergaard presented Honorary Service Awards in February to Tracey Black, Rebecca Harvey, Lisa Wilson, Cindy Bradford, Sharon Mayeux and the Crescenta Valley Town Council (accepting the award for them were Steve Goldsworthy and Robbyn Battles).

A huge beautification day is scheduled for March 27 in connection with the Disney “Give a Day, Get a Day” program. Contact the school office for more information.

Dunsmore Elementary

Congratulations to Amanda Granier, Teri Maestas, Patty and Dan Bittle, Kathleen Combs, Sally Foote, Kendall Roberg and Suzette Melko for receiving Honorary Service Awards at last month’s Founder’s Day event. A huge thank you goes out to Tracy Brown and Kathey McClure for planning this fun evening.

The library will host its annual coin drive from March 15 through 19. Shake out your piggy banks, empty your pockets and collect your coins. Proceeds will fill the shelves with new books.

The annual Project Fair and PTA Association Meeting is at 6:30 p.m. March 16 in the auditorium.

The Talent Show is coming up. Auditions for students will be from 12:30 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 22 in the auditorium.

The Foundation’s Annual Rockin’ Auction will be from 6 to 11 p.m. March 27 at the La Cañada Thursday Club. Pre-sale tickets are $37.50 each or $45 at the door. Damon’s is catering, and festivities include a silent and live auction, dancing, Guitar Hero World Tour, a 50/50 raffle and more. Contact the school office for more information.

Valley View Elementary

The third annual Mother/Son Olympics are from 6 to 9 p.m. March 26 on the lower playground. Mothers and sons will participate in an evening of Olympic-themed games, competitions, and food. Additional details regarding the evening to be announced.

Bring in used inkjet cartridges, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, used cell phones and Box Tops for Education at 8 a.m. March 30 during Recycling Day. Students will earn Eagles Eggs (to be spent at a later date) while supporting the school and helping the environment.
