Briefly In The News: A Noise Within offers performance

A Noise Within, the classical repertory theater company, announces a pay-what-you-can date for its production of “Awake And Sing!” by Clifford Odets at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The program allows patrons to purchase tickets for what they can afford.

They are sold first-come, first-served based on availability, with a limit of two per person. Tickets must be purchased in person at the box office, 234 S. Brand Blvd., after 2 p.m. on the day of the performance with cash only.

The minimum suggested is $10.

The play opens March 20. Previews begin Saturday.

Professor gives talk on Darfur

Darfur and the Sudan are topics for the next meeting of the Cañada Crescenta Democratic Club from 3 to 5 p.m. March 21 at the home of Marsha Hymanson, 4630 Lone Pine Lane, La Cañada Flintridge.

The speaker is Lako Tongun, associate professor of international and intercultural studies and political studies at Pitzer College.

He teaches general courses on development studies on the Third World and specific courses on African politics and the international relations of the Middle East.
