TOLOGS PICK UP ANOTHER HONOR

Just how good was the season recently put to rest by the Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy soccer team?

According to ESPN Rise, it was one of the top 10 in the nation.

Having gone 22-1-4 on the season, advanced to the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs and won the CIF Southern California Division III Regional Championships, Sacred Heart finished the season ranked 10th in the country in the ESPN Rise Fab 50.

In all, they were the third-highest ranked team in California.

“For us to be recognized as one of the top 10 high school girls soccer teams in the nation is just the icing on the cake for our season,” Tologs Coach Frank Pace said. “While rankings like this are subjective, it’s hard to argue with our 22-1-4 record against the most difficult schedule we ever played. We are so proud of all the players who ever wore the FSHA uniform and the families that supported them.

“They all share in our recent successes.”

Sacred Heart’s only starters lost for next season to graduation will be goalie Dominique Oro and midfielder Danielle Molina.

JORDAN GETS ALL-LEAGUE HONORS

St. Francis senior Tommy Jordan was recently selected to the All-Mission League team for boys’ basketball, as voted on by the league’s coaches.

The only Golden Knight to make the all-league honor roll, Jordan averaged 16.5 points, four assists and three rebounds per game.

“Tommy Jordan has to be one of the hardest working kids I’ve ever seen in all my years of coaching,” St. Francis co-Coach Ray O’Brien said. “His dedication to being the best he could be and being supportive of his teammates was outstanding.

“He never showed frustration, always remained a leader, positive, disciplined and unselfish.”

St. Francis (12-16) finished 4-10 in league for sixth place and advanced to the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division III playoffs.

MCGOWN NAMED TO ALL-LEAGUE SQUAD

Flintridge Prep senior goalkeeper Patricia McGown once again earned a spot on the All-Prep League girls’ water polo team. McGown finished with 240 saves and often kept the Rebels in contests.

McGown was named to the first team last season.

“It’s her third time on the all-league team and that’s nice for somebody who hadn’t played water polo before high school,” Flintridge Prep Coach Alex Supple said. “She ended her career on a good note.”
