Council members will attend convention

The Glendale Council PTA has about 26 delegates who will be attending the state PTA convention in Sacramento from April 29 to May 2. During that time, Glendale Council PTA will be receiving a legacy award for its 100th anniversary. In addition, the Glendale Council PTA was also awarded Outstanding Council in First District PTA, which spans West Covina to Burbank.

Glendale Council PTA invites the community to hear more about the future of public education by attending the Save Our Future Education Briefing sponsored by California School Board Assn. Region 23. This forum will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at San Gabriel High School, 801 S. Ramona Road, San Gabriel.

Speakers include Rep. Judy Chu (D-Calif.), Assemblyman Ed Hernandez (D-West Covina) and Assemblyman Mike Eng (D-Monterey Park).

LINCOLN ELEMENTARY

Families are invited to enjoy the Brock Edwards Magic Extravaganza at 7 p.m. Friday in the auditorium. The program’s purpose is to teachchildren decision-making skills and nonviolent solutions to their problems. Tickets are $7 advance sales and $9 at the door.

Do young children write “Wash Me” on your car? Wouldn’t it be great to sit back and have someone else wash your car and support Lincoln? Do this until Tuesday at Foothill Car Wash, 2355 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada Flintridge, and a portion of your purchase will be donated to the school.

Students will get the opportunity to show their appreciation for the great teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week May 3 to 7.

MOUNTAIN AVENUE ELEMENTARY

The first Science Fair was a huge success Friday with more than 65 entries ranging from fossil collections to erupting volcanoes to experiments with electromagnetism. Students brought their families back in the evening where they enjoyed interactive science stations that included a planetarium, animorphic art and a Van de Graaf generator — an electric field that made everyone’s hair stand on end.
