Zarian to host Canadian filmmaker

Canadian film director Hagop Goudsouzian on Thursday is scheduled to appear live on “The Larry Zarian Show” to discuss his two films that chronicle the Armenian Genocide and its generational impacts.

The program will explore the back story behind the two films and how they fit into cultural discourse surrounding the genocide, in which about 1.5 million Armenians were killed at the hands of Ottoman Turks in 1915.

The show airs at 7 p.m. on Channel 280. The viewer call-in number is (818) 547-3668.

The films, “Armenian Exile” and “My Son Shall Be Armenian,” are also slated to air Saturday on KCET TV during a four-hour segment, hosted by Zarian and his two sons, starting at 6 p.m.

Committee to present policy plan

The North Glendale Community Plan Advisory Committee next week will host two public meetings to present policy recommendations for development in the north Glendale annex.

The group, made up of about 30 local stakeholders, spent months discussing the area’s most contentious issues, including development along Foothill Boulevard and potential height limits.

The committee’s recommendations will be presented during open houses from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and April 28 at the Clark Magnet School Auditorium, 4747 New York Ave.

The recommendations will then be presented to the City Council for consideration next month.
