AND FIELD

Holy Family 75, Sacred Heart of Jesus 25: The Gaels clinched their first league title since 1992 with a quad-meet win on Friday at St. Francis High to share the Horizon League crown with San Gabriel Mission.

“I am very proud of these student-athletes who had very high hopes and worked very hard to earn this league title,” said third-year Holy Family Coach Robert Bringas, whose team (2-1) will participate in league preliminaries on Friday. “As I said earlier in the year, my goal was to consistently improve and develop the track program at [Holy Family].

“This is a very nice feeling, especially after only three years to have accomplished this. The girls were very dedicated this year to winning and competing.”

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Pasadena Poly 3, Flintridge Prep 2: Edmund Chow led the Rebels with 13 kills in a 27-29, 25-22, 25-23, 15-25, 15-12 Prep League home loss Friday.

Philip Montoya and Nolan Jimbo contributed 12 and 11 kills, respectively, and Kieran Mulroy finished with 42 assists for Prep (12-6, 4-1 in league).

BASEBALL

St. Francis 8, Harvard-Westlake 7: Brady Markel had a game-winning run batted in in the seventh inning to lift the Golden Knights to their first Mission League win of the season on Friday.

Tei Vanderford entered the game in the third inning as a reliever and earned the win to improve to 2-0 on the year, while Andrew Yu had a two-run base hit for St. Francis (10-9, 1-5).

SOFTBALL

Flintridge Prep 17, Webb 1: Denise van der Goot pitched four perfect innings and received plenty of run support on Friday in a five-inning Prep League home win.

Abby Deckop went two for three with an RBI, Ashley Kim was two for four with two RBIs, Marisa Wang went two for two with an RBI and stolen base and Emma Vine was two for four with an RBI and a steal for Prep (8-6, 5-1).

Sydney Golombeck drove in a pair of runs for the Rebels.

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 4, Louisville 2: Mackenzie Lyng pitched a complete game to pick up the win and Sumner Hanula drove in two go-ahead runs for the Tologs in the bottom of the sixth inning in a Mission League game on Thursday at the Glendale Sports Complex.

Hanula finished with three runs batted in on the day and Kelly Trueblood drove in another for Sacred Heart (6-5, 1-2).

Burroughs 5, Hoover 0: Christina Iezza pitched a complete game for the Tornadoes, who were one-hit by the Pacific League-leading Indians on Thursday at home.
