Glendale City Council Meeting Preview

May 04, 2010

Recycled water

The City Council will consider changing the city code that requires any expansion of the municipal recycled-water pipeline to be paid for by the customer.

Water officials have said the high cost of building the pipeline has kept prospective users from moving forward despite the current 25% discount for recycled water. The new rules would allow the city to pay some or all of the costs.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The council is expected to approve the amendments.

Float design

The council will review the themed design for Glendale’s 97th float entry in the 2011 Tournament of Roses Parade.

The “Say Cheese” proposal, which was selected by the Glendale Rose Float Assn. from about 35 designs, features a giant Bellows camera with flashing LED lights, a mouse dressed as a photographer carrying a camera and various empty picture frames.

The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Commission voted 4 to 1 to approve the design.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The council will likely sign off on the theme.
