Glendale City Council Wrap-up

May 06, 2010

Recycled water

The City Council approved changes to the city code that requires any expansion of the municipal recycled-water pipeline to be paid for by the customer.

Water officials have said the high cost of building the pipeline has kept prospective users from moving forward despite the current 25% discount for recycled water.

WHAT IT MEANS

The new rules would allow the city to pay some or all of the costs of expanding recycled water infrastructure.

Float design

The council approved a $99,000-contract with Phoenix Decorating Co. Inc. for the construction of Glendale’s float entry in the 2011 Tournament of Roses Parade.

The council also approved a “Say Cheese” theme for the float.

The theme, which was selected by the Glendale Rose Float Assn. from about 35 designs, features a giant Bellows camera with flashing LEDs, a mouse dressed as a photographer carrying a camera and empty picture frames.

WHAT IT MEANS

The float will be Glendale’s 97th entry in the parade.
