St. Francis High ties for fifth at Mission League prelims: The Golden Knights carded a 399 to tie for fifth with Crespi on Wednesday at the league prelims at Mountain Meadow Golf Course in Pomona.

However, four Golden Knights moved on to the league’s individual final, which will take place today at the same site. Richie Maloof had a four-over-par 76 for St. Francis (11-6 and 6-6 in league). The Golden Knights received 80s from Chris Petitio and Drake Muir and an 81 from Bobby Coffin. The cut was 81.

“It’s been a struggle of late, but our season isn’t over,” St. Francis Coach Jeff Durfee said. “I’m disappointed that we are not moving on.”

Loyola won the league title with a 373, followed by Chaminade (374), Harvard-Westlake (383) and Sherman Oaks Notre Dame (384).

The top four teams in the Mission League advance to the CIF divisionals.

Arcadia 4, Hoover 3 (eight innings): The visiting Tornadoes scored three runs in the first inning, but couldn’t hold on in a Pacific League contest Wednesday.

Tyler Delzell delivered a run-scoring double to give the Tornadoes (7-11 and 3-7 in league) a 2-0 advantage.

Michael Zalin then came through with an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.
