Soccer team to hold car wash

The AYSO Region 88 girls’ under-19 team will conduct a car wash from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 7950 Foothill Blvd., Sunland.

The cost is $5 per car. Proceeds will go toward the squad competing in the Florida National Games.

Fan appreciation night set

The Crescenta Valley High baseball team will hold its fan appreciation night at 7 p.m. May 14, when the Falcons meet rival Arcadia in a Pacific League contest at Stengel Field.


Dinner, raffle, silent auction, bake sale and more will be featured.

CV to hold Hall of Fame banquet

The second Crescenta Valley High School Athletic Hall of Fame banquet and ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Los Angeles National Golf Club in Sunland.

An opening reception will be followed by dinner at 6:30 and the induction ceremony will begin at 7:30.

The nine former Falcons athletes and coaches being inducted into the hall are All-American water polo player and All-CIF swimmer Fred Axelgard, All-CIF basketball player and swimmer Tammy Breckenridge, Keith Gilliland, who coached the school’s cross-country and track teams for over three decades, All-American basketball player Harvey Mason, football and baseball standout Mike McCall, All-CIF soccer player Stephanie Rigamat, volleyball player and girls’ athletics pioneer Judy Thomsen, basketball standout Gordon Tope and CIF title-winning football Coach Gordon Warnock.

Tickets to the banquet and ceremony are $50.

Figueras to hold football academy

Former Glendale High and University of Oregon football player Jaiya Figueras will conduct the West Coast Football Academy from 12:30-2 p.m. Saturdays at the Glendale Sports Complex, 2200 Fern Lane, Glendale.

The cost is $25 per session and the event will focus on basic fundamentals, evaluations and more.

Basketball clinic being conducted

Full Force Basketball Academy will hold five-week youth basketball clinics Mondays and Thursdays at the Glendale YWCA, 735 E. Lexington Drive, Glendale.

The elite basketball training and conditioning clinic will run from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays. The shooting clinic will be conducted 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursdays.

The clinics are geared for boys and girls of all ages.

Karapetyan Soccer Academy

Harut Karapetyan, a former striker on the Los Angeles Galaxy and Armenian National Team, will conduct his soccer academy Tuesdays and Fridays. The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at the Glendale Sports Complex, 2200 Fern Lane, Glendale.

The development program is geared for ages 5-12 and will cover fundamentals.
