Students showcase their stuff at the Alex

The Glendale Educational Foundation, in partnership with the city of Glendale, Glendale Unified School District and Glendale Arts, presents the 2010 Student Showcase on June 4 at the Alex Theatre. Student groups will perform from Hoover and Glendale high schools, Toll Middle School and Jefferson, Mann and Keppel elementary schools. There will also be films shown from students at Clark Magnet High School.

This is a wonderful opportunity to see what great work is being done in our schools in visual and performing arts. Admission is $10 and tickets are available at the Alex Theatre box office. For more information, call Susan Hunt at (818) 241-3111, Ext. 566.

Monte Vista Elementary

Staff Appreciation Week is this week and planned events include a breakfast and luncheon hosted by the PTA, and luncheons hosted by the Korean Club and the Armenian Club.


Open House is from 7 to 8 p.m. May 20. Reflections entries will also be on display in the cafetorium.

Orchestra performances are at 9:30 and 11 a.m. May 26 in the cafetorium and at 6:30 p.m. at Rosemont Middle School.

Fremont Elementary

The annual spring Scholastic Book Fair runs May 18 to 21. All proceeds benefit PTA-sponsored events including the student assembly scheduled for Friday titled “The Perfect Gentlemen and 100 Years of Harmony.”

Lincoln Elementary

The Spring Spectacular will be the evening of May 21 at the school. Lots of food, games, prizes, rides and fun for the whole family are planned. The Campus Clean-up is May 22. Students, teachers and family volunteers can work together to help spruce up the school. Open House and Silent Auction will be the evening of May 27. Tour the classrooms and bid on a favorite item to help raise funds for the school.

Valley View Elementary

Instrumental music assemblies will be held for students Thursday, culminating with an evening performance for parents at 7 p.m. at Rosemont Middle School.

Open House, In ‘n’ Out Dinner and Silent Auction all be the evening of May 19 at the following times: dinner 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., silent auction, 6 to 7 p.m. and 8 to 8:30 p.m., open house is from 7 to 8 p.m.

The Singing Eaglets Primary Chorus of more than 80 students will perform “I Need a Vacation” on May 26.

Chorus members will be singing, dancing and using props for their program that takes place during the day for students and at 7 p.m. for parents in the auditorium.
