Local man involved in fatal crash

SHERMAN OAKS — A 25-year-old Glendale man was involved in a fatal multi-vehicle collision on the 101 Freeway early Sunday morning, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

Around 2 a.m. Sunday, a 2004 Hyundai, a 1993 Toyota and a Dodge vehicle were involved in a three-car collision on the eastbound Hollywood (101) Freeway west of Coldwater Canyon Boulevard, according to the CHP. The three cars were blocking the center lanes.

Shortly after the three drivers and one passenger exited the cars to exchange information, 25-year-old Haik Madoyan crashed his 2000 BMW into the cars, according to the CHP. During the collision, two men and one woman suffered fatal injuries. The male driver of the Dodge escaped injury by fleeing to the right shoulder.

Madoyan, who suffered moderate injuries, was detained by officers. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
