In Tuesday's first round, Kanda fired a 76, as UNLV carded a 294 to finish the day in a four-way tie for 16th place.
Florida State ended Wednesday in the lead with a two-day score of 562.
The second round will resume at 7 a.m. today with the third round estimated to begin at 9.
Christian Bergman (St. Francis High, 2006) senior, UC Irvine baseball: After finishing the regular season on quite a tear, Bergman was honored with his second straight All-Big West Conference second-team selection.
The right-handed hurler was one of seven players to earn all-conference honors from a third-seeded Anteaters team (37-19, 17-7 in conference) that is set to face No. 2 seed and defending national champion LSU in the Los Angeles Regional of the NCAA Tournament at 2 p.m. Friday at UCLA's Jackie Robinson Stadium.
Coming off a complete-game win over Long Beach State on Friday, Bergman is riding a 24 1/3 innings shutout streak and leads UC Irvine with three complete games on the season.
Bergman finished up a solid regular season, going 8-3 with a 3.82 earned-run average and 74 strikeouts to just 15 walks. He is 18th in the NCAA in walks allowed per nine innings with 1.4.
It was the third all-conference selection overall for Bergman, who was a first-team pick in 2008.
Jesse Meaux (Glendale High, 2007) junior, UC Santa Barbara baseball: Two days after turning in a quality start in a Gauchos win to end the regular season, Meaux was awarded an All-Big West Conference honorable mention.
Meaux (8-3) lowered his ERA to 4.41 on the season by limiting University of the Pacific to two earned runs on six hits over seven innings on Sunday.
He left with the game tied at 2 and did not factor in the decision when the Gauchos scored five runs in the top of the 10th inning to win the game, 8-5, and finish out the year at 24-30 and 10-14 in conference.
