FSHA has 78th commencementFlintridge Sacred Heart Academy, which had its 78th annual commencement last Sunday, graduated 98 seniors in the Class of 2010. The young women wore matching long white gowns and gloves, and carried bouquets of red roses as they received their diplomas on Crane Field.
The salutatorian was Amy Trivers, who will attend UCLA in the fall, while the valedictory address was given by co-valedictorians Mallory Howe, who will attend Amherst College, and Marisa McKently, who will attend Harvard.
The commencement address was given by Annette Ricchiazzi Blain, a graduate of the Class of 1990.
Several awards were presented during the ceremony including the Veritas Award, the highest award given by the school, which went to ASB President Shaylyn Stanley. Other awards included the National Merit Finalist Scholar award to Katie Hernandez; scholarship medals to Marielisa Argueta, Christina Brandt, Kiva Dykstra, Meghan Fitzpatrick, Mary Treinen and Amy Trivers; and the Siena Award to Emily Miller Also, Service Medals were presented to Paolo Fernandez, Erin Gonzalez, Mallory Mudie, Katarina Nguyen and Melissa Pittson; leadership medals were given to Christina Brandt, Alexis Budzyn, Shaylyn Stanley, Mary Treinen, Taylor Vail and Stephanie Wetzel. The Tolog Award was given to Athena Abujaber, and the award for significant academic achievement by an international student went to Yun-Hye Kim. The Visual & Performing Arts award went to Bonnie Ong.
