SOUTH GLENDALE — Two people suffered minor injuries Tuesday morning after they were struck by a motorist while using a crosswalk at San Fernando Road and Chevy Chase Drive, police said.

The collision is the second involving pedestrians reported in four days. The crash occurred about 8:50 a.m., Officer Larry Ballesteros said.

The Subaru bumped a man's hip, causing him to fall into a woman, whose head hit the ground, Ballesteros said.

The driver of the Subaru told police he had been monitoring opposing traffic and did not see the pair when he turned into them. The driver and his two children were not harmed, Ballesteros said.

The pair complained of pain but refused medical treatment.

Ballesteros said the collision should be a reminder to motorists to watch for pedestrians.

"When you are going to make a turn, make sure you know because you never know where pedestrians are going to come from," he said.

A similar incident occurred June 19 at the Glendale Galleria, where a woman who was standing in a parking spot was struck, police said.

The woman was standing in the spot in an attempt to save it for her friend when the motorist, who apparently didn't see her, pulled into the space, police said.

She complained of pain to her neck but refused medical treatment, police said.

The most recent collision involving a pedestrian occurred about 8:40 p.m. Friday at West California Avenue and North Kenwood Street.

In that crash, the motorist struck a Glendale man in a wheelchair and fled the scene, police said.

The victim told police he didn't see the make or model of the vehicle, but recalled hearing the motorist honk before hitting him.

Anyone with details about Friday's crash is asked to call the Glendale Police Department at (818) 548-4840, or the Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477.
