National Charity League Inc., Glendale Chapter honored six local girls during a recent award reception at The Oakmont Country Club. Each young woman was presented with a $1,000 scholarship to further her education.
The girls were selected for their academic achievements, leadership skills, exceptional community service, and a history of volunteering.
The scholarship recipients are Ashlynn Fiss, a graduate of Crescenta Valley High School who will be attending UCLA, majoring in biology; Christine Garibian, a graduate of Glendale High School who will be attending UC Berkeley with a major in cognitive science; Lara Kumjian, graduate of Clark Magnet High School will be attending UC Irvine, majoring in biology; Rebecca Mendiola, a graduate of Daily High School, who will be attending Glendale Community College majoring in Dance and Business; Analilia Rodriguez, graduate of Hoover High School who will be attending Cal State Northridge, majoring in biology; Julia Rowe, a graduate of La Cañada High School and attending University of the Pacific and majoring in history and political science; and Rochelle Shabanian, a graduate of Glendale Community College and moving on to UCLA to major in psychology.
