Nov. 14, 2009 — Under the tutelage of first-year Coach Forest Holbrook, the boys' water polo team advances to the semifinals for the first time since 2000 with an 11-9 upset victory against fourth-seeded Walnut in a Division VI quarterfinal match at Burbank High. The Nitros get a 14-save performance by goalkeeper Haik Chatalyan and four goals apiece from Gor Asryan and Martin Narinyan.

"We had a decent game, but not a good one," Holbrook said. "Luckily, we were able to advance with Gor having an off day.

"The rest of the guys stood out and helped. We got a huge lift from the bench and Martin played incredibly well. It's good to get to the semifinals."
