Home design center opens in Galleria: Home Paradise Design Center, a kitchen-and-bath design showroom, has opened in the Glendale Galleria.

Customers may open the cabinets, drawers and shower doors on display to see home design options. Home Paradise also installs materials and offers interior design services. The Glendale store and a San Diego showroom opened this month, giving the Southern California firm six locations.

Sunglasses store sets up shop on Maryland

Paparazzi Sunglasses and Optical, a new store featuring sunglasses from top-name designers, opened for business this month at 127 N. Maryland Ave.

Educational vedeos desiged for seniors

Home Instead Senior Care, a home health-care agency with offices in Glendale and Burbank, has made available a series of educational videos and other online tools covering some common challenges for seniors who need an increased level of care. Housing project gets free solar power system

A Habitat for Humanity housing project scheduled to break ground in Glendale next year will receive a complete photovoltaic solar system for free from Irwindale-based Sun Green Systems Inc., the company announced.

San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity will build five three-bedroom, one-bath townhomes on Geneva Street in Glendale, with work tentatively slated to begin in March. In addition to donating about $80,000 worth of solar materials and installation costs, Sun Green is offering to donate money from other sales to the estimated $600,000 needed for the project.
