Bea Jue passed away October 15, 2010. She is survived by her six children and thirteen grand children and was proceeded in death by her husband of 40 years, Ed Jue.
Bea was born Beatrice T. Lee in Tuscan Arizona in 1932. She holds a BA from the University of Arizona and her first career was as a teacher, first in San Diego and then at Cerritos Elementary in Glendale, CA.
In 1965 she met, and married, Ed Jue. Together they traveled the world and enjoyed mah jong, lifelong friendships and gourmet food. They had six children and were devoted to numerous community service organizations. Bea was particularly proud of her role as a Los Angeles Chinatown organizer and developer. She fostered programs such as the Chinatown Teen Post and Alpine Community Center as well as launching enduring Chinese New Year's traditions like the New Year's Parade and the Miss Chinatown Beauty Pageant.
