Hearing delayed for former Bears president

November 10, 2010

A preliminary hearing for the former president of the Glendale Bears Youth Football and Cheerleading organization, who is charged with disability insurance fraud and forgery stemming from another job, was postponed Tuesday.

Tina Marquez, 41, was forced out from the nonprofit youth sports organization last month after members discovered $29,000 in unpaid debt, which had amassed under her leadership. Glendale police officials said they are investigating allegations that Marquez embezzled those funds.

In the disability fraud case, Marquez was arrested on Oct. 21 in connection with allegedly collecting roughly $75,000 in forged disability claims to the California Employment Development Department, according to court documents.
