Merge Fitness wins parking exception
On Nov. 9, the City Council approved a request for an exception to normal parking regulations for Merge Fitness, a new business at 1517 Railroad St.
Owner Alex Castillo said the gym will offer gymnastics and weightlifting lessons at the 2,300-square-foot former warehouse within the San Fernando redevelopment project area.
The building has four parking spaces, but would require 23 spaces under city zoning regulations. Finding that the new business would be a benefit to the community and the required parking spaces cannot reasonably be provided, the council voted unanimously to grant the parking exception.
