Shahinian's effort placed second all-time in program history for most points in a game. Cara Vergo set the record with 48 points against Compton in 1990, according to the college's website.
Additionally, Shahinian equaled another school record for most three-pointers in a game. She tied former Glendale teammate Melia Basavand, who made 10 three-pointers against Imperial Valley College in 2008.
Shahinian's .770 field-goal percentage from three-point range is a new school record. She had 22 first-half points against L.A. Southwest. Shahinian made her 10th three-pointer with one minute left in the game.
Shahinian registered five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Joe De Pinto (St. Francis High, 2007) senior second baseman, USC baseball: The former All-Area first-teamer began the season on the right note. De Pinto went six for 11 in three games at the USC Baseball Tournament at Dedeaux Field.
On Sunday, De Pinto recorded two hits and scored a pair of runs in the Trojans' 11-7 loss to North Carolina in the tournament championship game. De Pinto finished with three putouts and three assists for USC (2-1).
In USC's season-opener Saturday against Missouri, De Pinto recorded two hits to help USC post a 9-3 win. De Pinto then posted two hits in a 5-2 win against Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on Saturday in a tournament game called after five innings because of rain. The Trojans scored four first-inning runs, one being driven in by De Pinto.
De Pinto batted .545 and drove in two runs in the tournament. In the field, he totaled nine assists and five putouts.
The Trojans will next compete in a nonconference game against host UC Riverside at 6 p.m. today.
