Brenden McKiernan had two hits and scored three runs for the Rebels.

Alex Sierra picked up the save.

Verdugo Hills 6, Hoover 5 (8 innings): Despite a strong start on the mound by Anthony Cuccinello over six innings, the starter was victimized by four unearned runs and the Tornadoes fell to 0-2 on the season in the process with Saturday's Royal Tournament loss at Verdugo.

Eugene Shin added two hits for Hoover.

Crescenta Valley 11, South Pasadena 0 (5 innings): The Falcons continued to roll at the Duarte Tournament with a mercy-rule win on Saturday at Duarte High.

Erin Ashby had two hits, including a home run, and combined with Helene Cook for an abbreviated two-hit shutout.

Brielle Walker also had two hits, with a two-run home run, while Sydney House punched a three-run homer.

Crescenta Valley is now 3-0.
