The media packed the gates of Forest Lawn Memorial-Park in Glendale Thursday as family and friends of Elizabeth Taylor gathered for a small ceremony a day after the Hollywood legend died of congestive heart failure.
All that could be seen from the media encampment at the gates was a small procession entering the grounds at about 2:30 p.m. as roughly 50 camera crews photographed the scene from across the street.
The late actress, who was 79 when she died at Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, was to be interred at the cemetery’s Great Mausoleum, the final resting place for other film stars, such as Clark Gable and Jean Harlow. It’s also the same building where her friend, Michael Jackson, was interred in 2009.
Sylvia Radic, 69, drove to the cemetery with her husband, Nikola, from their Mt. Washington home Thursday afternoon upon learning of the plans on television.
