Sue Thisdell Jones

Sue Thisdell Jones, born February 2, 1965, passed away on March 17, 2011 after a nine year battle with breast cancer.

Sue was a lifelong Glendale resident, and attended local Glendale schools Verdugo Woodlands Elementary, Wilson Jr. High and Glendale High School. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 1987 with a major in Business Administration.

Sue’s professional life was spent working for the City of Los Angeles, both with the DWP as well as the Los Angeles Zoo, serving as their Safety Officer. Sue also worked for the March of Dimes and the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee in the UCLA Athletes’ Village.

In September 2007 Sue married Terry ‘TJ’ Jones in a ceremony aboard the Queen Mary, with many lifelong friends present.

Sue’s character was defined by her tireless and long-time dedication to the many organizations with which she was involved. She served as a Tournament of Roses “white suiter” since 1994 and rose through the ranks to the position of Committee Vice Chair. After participating in the YMCA’s Youth & Government program in high school she remained a loyal volunteer advisor, staff member and fundraiser to the program, serving most recently as the Director of Research at their annual conference in Sacramento. Sue also remained dedicated to her alma mater, volunteering and leading the University of Arizona’s local alumni group, the So Cal Cats. She assisted with the planning of five Glendale High School class reunions over the years.
