Sun shines on Mayor's Cup charity golf tourney

May 20, 2011|By Isabel Adams

We have had some very interesting weather lately. One day the temperature shoots up to the 80s, and the next day, we are freezing. But April 29 turned out to be a gorgeous day with the sun shining brightly on the Burbank Sunrise Kiwanis Mayor’s Cup 14th annual Charity Golf Tournament organized by Mike Caggiano. The most important winners of this fundraising event are the 2011-12 beneficiaries of the Burbank Sunrise Kiwanis Foundation’s sponsored youth programs in our fair city.

The Flight A winners were Team Comcast NBC Universal (second year in a row!) composed of Darnell Tyler, Al Olivas, Charlie Baker and Brad Lander. Flight B winners were Team BCEA (Burbank City Employees Assn.) composed of Darrin Borders, Bob Kaczmarek, Brian Mole and David Orozco. Chris Kesicbasian and Brandon Shin of John Burroughs High School teamed with Kenny Cunanan and Brady Dunayer of Burbank High School to be the high school champs.

A special Burbank Centennial Celebration at the Mayor’s Cup included state Assemblyman Mike Gatto (D-Silver Lake) and representatives of Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) presenting certificates and proclamations of congratulations to Mayor Anja Reinke and the former mayors in attendance.

The Burbank Sunrise Kiwanis meet at 7 a.m. Wednesdays at the DeBell Clubhouse. For more information contact Donna Anderson at (818) 238-5880 or at danderson@ci.burbank.ca.us.
