Don and Ivy Fiske will celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary on June 8.
The couple were born in Minneapolis and attended Patrick Henry High School and North Methodist Church.
Don enlisted in the Army following graduation from high school. After two years at USC, he returned to Minneapolis in 1949 and married Ivy. They came to Glendale in 1953. She worked at MGM in Culver City, Forest Lawn Glendale, the Lawndale Elementary School District and Avery International in Pasadena.
Don worked for 36 years with the Glendale Unified School District as a speech correctionist and started classroom teaching before becoming principal at Verdugo Woodlands Elementary School for 10 years and Mountain Avenue for another six years. He moved on to the administration center where he was the driector of elementary education for 16 years. He retired in June 1988.
Ivy Fiske and Gayle Farmer bought the Quilt’n Things Quilt Shop in Montrose, which they jointly owned until Ivy joined Don in retirement. She was a member of Eastern Star, Philanthropic Educational Organization Chapter FF, Job’s Daughters, Girl Scouts, Glendale Methodist Church and the Crescenta Valley and Tujunga churches.
