Stiles Bradley Parks, Jr.

July 06, 2011

Stiles Bradley Parks, Jr.

Stiles Bradley Parks Jr. was born on October 19, 1916, to Stiles and Fannie Lee Parks, and died peacefully on June 9, 2011.  He grew up in Georgia and Tennessee, then moved at age 15 with his family to Chicago.  He graduated from Northwestern University, and in 1939 married Ruth.  Brad and Ruth settled  in Glendale in 1948, and raised their four children.

A CPA, Brad worked at Lockheed for 31 years as an internal auditor with the Skunk Works.  He served many times on election boards.  He and Ruth attended Grandview Presbyterian Church over 50 years, where he was in choir, Bible study, and Session.  For 25 years, they taped evangelical speakers at conferences in the area, making over 4,500 different recordings.  Brad sold and gave away thousands of copies, and donated his collection in 2009 to Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena.

After Ruth died in 2006, Brad lived at home until he broke his hip.  In 2009, he moved to Twelve Oaks Lodge in La Crescenta, where he found new friends.  He continued his interest in music and singing, travelogues, healthy eating, and in the beauty of nature.  He will be remembered and missed by many.
