JoAnne Border

August 03, 2011

JoAnne Border, 80.

In complete peace, JoAnne Border left our world to go to her true home on July 28, 2011. She was a resident of Burbank for over 65 years.

JoAnne was born in Hollywood CA on May 27, 1931 to Alice and Donald Ingersol. She was a member of the very first graduating class at John Burroughs High School in 1948. She married Keith Border in 1950. She leaves 3 children- Diana (Jimenez), Bob and Jim, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She worked for many years as a partner with her husband at Border Bros. Dry Cleaning. She was an avid sportswoman enjoying water skiing and tennis, but she would say the greatest event of her life was entering into a relationship with God through Christ in the spring of 1978. Soon after, she became a member of Glendale Presbyterian Church. She remained there for 32 years. Early on, she was passionate in her pursuit of God. There, she found her calling- serving the congregation in the role as kitchen coordinator. She was a wonderful cook and found fulfillment and purpose in serving others. Just 3 weeks before her death, she was busy coordinating the memorial service of a fellow congregant.

Her garden was amazing. She spent many hours communing with her Lord there. She loved the classics- classical music, literature and architecture- and her beloved Ford Mustang. She loved impressionist art as well. She had a passion for learning and was “in class” right up until the end of her life.

JoAnne was a loving wife and a loving mother and a devoted friend to many. She will be missed.

A memorial service to celebrate her life is planned for 11:00 AM, August 6, at her own Glendale Presbyterian Church, 125 South Louise Street, Glendale, CA 91205. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Glendale Presbyterian Church Missions.
