Crescenta Valley's boys' and girls' water polo squads and boys' soccer team turned in deep postseason runs this year

Claudia Pham leads a balanced effort on the Falcons' girls' side, winning the 1,600 in 5:44.91 and the 3,200 in 12:15, while Kayleigh Carillo has a hand in three wins, taking the 400 in 1:00.50 and running in the 4x100 relay with Noel Wong, Maple Jones and Jessica Beerman (51.19) and the 4x400 relay with Claudia Sepulveda, Tiernan Hebron and Hannah Ruby (4:20.09).

Sepulveda wins the 100 high hurdles (16.97), Hebron takes the 100 (12.91), Ruby captures the 800 (2:32.28) and Beerman is a winner in the 200 (26.25).

In field events, Elia Ganon wins the pole vault (7-3) and Jones doubles in the triple jump (32.5) and long jump (15-5).

April 26 — The girls' track and field team gets off to a slow start but Arcadia picks up every win in the field to capture the Pacific League title, as Arcadia takes the crown, 77-59. The boys team also takes a back seat to the Apaches, 99 1/2-36 1/2.

Claudia Sepulveda wins the 100-meter hurdles in 16.79 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 48.69.

"I thought we had them," Sepulveda said. "It was a tough match, but I felt like we did really strongly. It was one of our best meets all season. We did come out to compete."

The Falcons (6-1 in league) also get wins from Jessica Beerman in the 100 (12.69) and 200 (25.64), Tiernan Hebron in the 400 (1:00.18), Cali King in the 1,600 (5:19.10), Claudia Pham in the 3,200 (11:34.62) and a victory in the 4x100 relay from Sepulveda, Noel Wong, Kayleigh Carillo and Beerman in 50.69.

On the boys' side, the Falcons (6-1) pick up wins from James Maturan in the 100 in 11.50, Josh Straschewski in the 110 hurdles in 15.86 and Nick Ruiz in the 300 hurdles in 16.81.

May 3 — Adrian Chia, John Lee, Paul Park and Aaron Peskett of the boys' golf team qualify for the Pacific League Individual Tournament in the league prelims. Chia and Park shoot 81s, while Park finishes with an 85 and Peskett cards a 91. David Moreno has an 84 for Crescenta Valley, which got a 95 from Patrick Kallas.

May 4 — Park's bid for a spot in the CIF Southern Section Individual Tournament falls short when he cards a two-over-par 72 on the final day of the Pacific League Individual Tournament.

"I had a lot better round [Wednesday] compared to my first round Tuesday," said Park, who cards a 13-over-par 85 on Tuesday and finishes 11th overall with a two-day score of 157 and a total league season score of 394. "I just hit the ball a lot better and my putting was good.
