Tologs reign supreme

State ascension in cross-country and playoff wins in hoops were highlights, but FSHA's CIF title win in soccer was the pinnacle in 2010-11.

May 5 — Altmayer wins a league title in the 200-yard freestyle and Emily Balog does the same in the 100 breaststroke at the Mission League swimming finals at L.A. Valley College.

The duo also combines with Ryan and Eva Dulcich to win the 200-medley relay.

In track and field at the Mission League finals, Flintridge Sacred Heart has two second-place finishes at L.A. Valley College. Stephanie Vargas clocks 57.74 in the 400 and works with Drew Washington, Rebecca Armstrong and Daelyn Moon to place second in the 4x400 relay (4:01.10).

May 14 — Flintridge Sacred Heart's track and field team fares well at the Division IV prelims at Carpinteria High. The Tologs start their day in style with Stephanie Vargas, Noelle Niëderhaus, Daelyn Moon and Drew Washington setting a school record in the 4x100-meter relay in 49.85 seconds for an overall finish of seventh place. Vargas wins her heat in the 400-meter race with the fifth-fastest time of 58.35 seconds. Washington places eighth overall in the 400 (59.73). Freshman Rebecca Armstrong clocks 2 minutes 25.06 seconds to take ninth overall in the 800.

"That started the day off real well setting the school record," Flintridge Sacred Heart Coach Mario Aguilar said. "Everybody, in all of our events, ran to their potential and we are moving on as a group."

May 21 — At the CIF Southern Section Track and Field Divisional Championships at Cerritos College, Vargas, Niëderhaus, Washington and Moon finish seventh in the Division IV heat (50.58) of the 4x100 relay. Washington also takes eighth in the Division IV 400 (60.36) and Armstrong finishes ninth in the Division IV 800 (2:27.37).
