A woman was arrested early Tuesday after she allegedly tried to run away from police before biting an officer who tried to detain her in traffic lanes on Cañada Boulevard.

The woman, Rose Dodd, allegedly bit the officer’s right knee during the attack, leaving a small cut, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said. The officer was not taken to a hospital, he added.

Glendale police responded about 12:11 a.m. to the area of Cañada Boulevard and Colina Drive after receiving calls about a woman who had stepped in front of a vehicle, her hands flailing in the air, according to police reports.

Officers spotted Dodd walking south on Cañada Boulevard and tried to stop her, but she ran into traffic lanes, according to reports.

One of the officers chased and grabbed her shirt, but she ducked down and slipped out of her shirt, according to reports.

They finally caught up to Dodd, grabbed her arm and took her down to the ground in the street, according to police.

As they struggled for two to three minutes to gain control of Dodd, at some point she allegedly bit the officer’s knee.

Police used a Taser gun to stun her, but she continued to fight with officers and refused to place her hands behind her back, officers reported.

Even after a second Taser shot, Dodd allegedly continued to resist, requiring the assistance of four officers to stop her from hurting herself and to get her inside a patrol car.

She was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, battery on an officer and delaying and obstructing an officer.

Dodd was taken to jail, where paramedics tried to check her, but she allegedly refused.

When she was taken to Glendale Adventist Medical Hospital for examination, she allegedly tried to escape from her restraints again, but she was given medication to calm down.
