Tologs notch tournament victory

GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 3, Gahr 0: Alessandra Orlandini had 15 aces and Drew Washington added 12 kills Tuesday to propel the Tologs in a Gahr Tournament match. Sacred Heart improved to 2-1 after splitting two tournament matches Monday.

Holy Family 3, St. Genevieve 0: Alicia Marquez contributed 21 digs and Denise Patino added six aces Tuesday to lead the visiting Gaels to a 25-12, 25-13, 25-11 season-opening nonleague victory.

Ashlee Sandoval posted six kills and 14 digs for Holy Family.

Glendale 3, Duarte 0: Gabrielle Magpantay and Andrea Popescu each contributed four aces Tuesday to power host Glendale to a 25-21, 25-17, 25-17 nonleague win. The Nitros finished with 14 aces.

Kimberly Coffman and Ninette Mirzakhanian had four kills apiece for the Nitros.

Milken Community 3, Flintridge Prep 0: The visiting Rebels fell, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19, on Tuesday in a nonleague match. Flintridge Prep (1-1) received 21 digs from Katrina Boyd, nine kills from Kate Woolley and seven kills from Julia Miller.

GIRLS' GOLF

Harvard-Westlake 217, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 282: Yu Jung Kim collected a 13-over-par 48 on Tuesday for the Tologs in a Mission League match at Eaton Canyon Golf Course. Sacred Heart dropped to 0-3 overall and in league.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

L.A. Harbor College 5, Glendale Community College 0: The visiting Vaqueros (0-2) fell Tuesday in a nonconference match.

Glendale opened its season Friday with a 3-1 nonconference loss against Compton. Ayana Miyazaki scored for the Vaqueros.

MEN'S SOCCER

San Bernardino Valley College 3, Glendale Community College 1: The host Vaqueros fell in a season-opening nonconference match Friday.

WOMEN'S CROSS-COUNTRY

Glendale Community College in Fullerton Invitational: The Vaqueros began their season Saturday by finishing third overall and first among community college teams with 73 points. Loyola Marymount took first with 39 points, followed by Long Beach State (61).

Glendale college's Karen Rosas finished second overall on the 3.1-mile course in 22 minutes 8.5 seconds, just five seconds behind former Vaquero and current Long Beach standout Rosa Del Toro. Alyssa Selve of Glendale was seventh in 22:44, Angela Martinez was 15th (23:17.3), Grace Graham-Zamudio was 24th (23:25.8) and Charlene Quintanilla was 27th (23:31.4).

MEN'S CROSS-COUNTRY

Glendale Community College in Fullerton Invitational: The Vaqueros finished sixth overall with 136 points at Saturday's event.

Mizrael Mendez was the top finisher for the Vaqueros on the four-mile course in 25 minutes 58.7 seconds. Jesus Gutierrez was 23rd in 26:21.1, Alec Nelson was 33rd (26:40.9), Mario Castillo was 45th (26:52) and Vladimir Diaz was 47th (26:52.2).

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Riverside City College 3, Glendale Community College 0: Sara Kert led the Vaqueros with 11 kills and Cami Martin contributed 27 assists in a 25-14, 25-22, 25-19 loss in the Victor Valley College Quad Tournament on Friday. Racquel Valenzuela had 12 digs for the Vaqueros, who dropped to 1-3.

Earlier, the Vaqueros were handed a 20-25, 25-23, 25-12, 25-14 loss by Mount San Antonio College.
